Bwana Matayo was founded in Kampala in 2019 with a single observation — that quality photography in Uganda was either generic, or reserved for people who knew the right person. We set out to change that.
The name means exactly what it sounds like. Big on Quality is not a tagline — it is the operating principle. Every session, regardless of budget or brief, gets the same level of attention to light, composition, and story.
Six years in, we have covered weddings, school formals, graduation ceremonies, food campaigns, studio sessions, and brand activations across Kampala and beyond. The gear has evolved. The team has grown. The obsession with quality has not moved an inch.
